SSP Digital Logic 2 Circuit Kit – Computer & Communication 2026–2027, Alexandria University
Product Description
The Digital Logic 2 circuit kit from SSP is a ready-to-build set of logic ICs, a display, and supporting passive parts, put together for Computer & Communication students at Alexandria University for the 2026–2027 academic year. Instead of tracking down each chip, resistor, and capacitor separately, students get the parts for counting, timing, and display circuits in one package.
The core of the kit is a group of classic 74-series logic ICs. A 7476 dual J-K flip-flop with preset and clear stores state, a 74163 synchronous 4-bit binary counter and a 74190 synchronous up/down decade counter handle counting, and a 74195 4-bit parallel-access shift register moves and holds data. A NE555 / LM555 timer in a DIP-8 package supplies the clock pulses that drive them. A 7447 BCD to 7-segment decoder/driver, with 15V open-collector outputs, translates the counter output into segment patterns for the 5161BS common anode 7-segment display.
In practice, these parts form a chain. The 555 generates pulses, the counters or shift register step through their states on each pulse, the decoder converts the 4-bit result into a readable digit, and the display shows it. The push buttons let you step a circuit by hand, so you can watch one clock cycle at a time before switching to the timer. The 1K, 10K, and 100K potentiometers let you vary resistance in timing and control circuits, which makes it easy to slow a clock down for observation or speed it up.
The fixed resistors (1K and 100K, 1/4 watt, 5%) and the ceramic and electrolytic capacitors cover the usual supporting roles, such as timing networks, pull-up and pull-down resistors, current limiting, and supply decoupling. Having them in the same kit means fewer mismatched parts and less time spent sourcing small components.
Most items come in pairs, and the 7476 flip-flops and push buttons come in fours. That spare quantity is useful when a design needs several stages, for example cascading counters or using more than one flip-flop in a sequence. All ICs are in DIP packages, which fit standard breadboards and make circuits easy to rebuild and modify.
This kit suits students preparing for Digital Logic 2 circuit work, anyone practicing sequential logic at home, and teaching assistants who want a consistent parts set. Because the components match the course list, it saves the guesswork of buying a similar-looking but different part.
