Description

AAST Mechatronics Kit 2026–2027

Product Description

The AAST Mechatronics Kit 2026–2027 is a comprehensive educational electronics and robotics kit designed for students studying mechatronics, embedded systems, and practical automation. It combines an Arduino UNO R3 development board with electronic components, sensors, motor-control modules, a display, wireless communication, and a four-wheel robot chassis. The kit provides a practical foundation for building and testing projects that integrate programming, electronics, sensing, and mechanical movement.

At the core of the kit is the Arduino UNO R3, a microcontroller development board used to read sensor signals, process input data, and control connected electronic components. The included USB A-to-B cable supports programming and serial communication with a compatible computer. The 840-point solderless breadboard, jumper wires in three connection configurations, resistors, LEDs, potentiometers, and push buttons provide the basic components required to assemble and test circuits without soldering.

The kit includes several sensors for measuring environmental conditions and detecting objects. The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor measures distance using ultrasonic sound waves, while the TCRT5000 module supports line-following experiments through infrared reflection detection. The LDR responds to changes in ambient light, and the DHT11 measures temperature and relative humidity. Additional modules include a flame sensor and an MQ-2 gas sensor for experimental flame detection and the detection of smoke or certain combustible gases.

For motion and actuator control, the kit includes an L298 dual H-bridge motor driver, an SG90 micro servo, and a robot chassis equipped with four geared motors and four wheels. These components support experiments involving motor direction, speed control, steering, servo positioning, and mobile robot navigation. The included relay module adds an electrically controlled switching interface for suitable external loads, while the 5V magnetic buzzer and LEDs provide audible and visual output.

Communication and user-interface development are supported by the HC-05 Bluetooth module and a 16×2 LCD with an I²C interface. These components allow students to build projects that exchange data with compatible Bluetooth devices and display measurements, status messages, and operating parameters. The common-anode 7-segment display and RGB LED provide further opportunities to study digital output and display control.

The kit also includes three recycled 18650 lithium-ion cells, a three-slot battery holder, and a single-cell lithium battery charger. These components require careful power-system planning: the charger is intended for one cell at a time, and the battery holder arrangement must not be assumed compatible with direct charging through the included single-cell charger.

By combining programming, sensing, wireless communication, digital interfaces, motor control, and robotics hardware, the AAST Mechatronics Kit supports practical coursework, laboratory exercises, and introductory autonomous-robot projects.
