Digital Logic Design Kit – AAST Computer Science | Alexandria Branch 2026/2027
Product Description
This digital logic design kit for AAST Computer Science students at the Alexandria Branch gathers the parts needed to build both combinational and sequential circuits during the 2026/2027 academic year. Instead of collecting dozens of small components one by one, students get the gates, flip-flops, timer, display, power parts, and wiring for a full term of breadboard work in a single package.
Combinational design is covered by a full set of gate ICs: the 7400 NAND, 7402 NOR, 7404 hex inverter, 7408 AND, 7432 OR, and 7486 XOR. A 74151 8-line to 1-line data selector adds multiplexer experiments. For sequential logic, the kit includes 7474 dual D positive-edge-triggered flip-flops and 7476 dual J-K flip-flops, both with preset and clear, plus two NE555 / LM555 timer ICs in DIP-8 packages that can generate the clock pulses to drive them.
Seeing results is as important as building them. A 4511 BCD to 7-segment latch decoder driver works with the 5161AS 0.56 inch common cathode red display to show a binary count as a digit, and twenty 5mm LEDs show the logic level on individual lines. Two 8-way DIP switches provide plenty of input lines, so wider circuits do not need makeshift wiring. With 25 resistors of 330 Ohm, there is a current-limiting resistor ready for every LED and display segment, along with 1K, 10K, and 100K Ohm resistors for pull-ups, timing networks, and general use.
The capacitor assortment, from 1nF ceramic up to a 1000uF electrolytic, supports timing circuits around the 555 and supply smoothing on the breadboard. Everything is assembled on a 1660 tie-point solderless breadboard (ZY-204), which gives more space than a small board when a design spreads across several ICs. Power comes from a 5V 1A wall adapter, and a 5V DC input module with a DC jack and switch plugs into the breadboard so the supply can be switched on and off cleanly. A 140-piece jumper wire kit and a 65-wire set of BB-J65 connecting jumpers cover the wiring, and a 10-grid storage box keeps the small parts organized when the lab session ends.
The kit is intended for students working through digital logic assignments, anyone practicing for lab practicals, and self-learners who want a complete parts list that matches the course. Having all components from the same source also reduces the chance of buying a lookalike part that does not behave as the lab manual expects.
