The Saft LS 26500 Lithium Battery is a high-energy-density primary lithium cell designed for applications requiring long service life, reliable voltage delivery, and low self-discharge. Manufactured by Saft, this C-size cylindrical battery uses lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl₂) chemistry, making it suitable for industrial electronics, utility metering, measuring instruments, and remote monitoring equipment.

The battery provides a nominal voltage of 3.6V and a typical capacity of 7.7Ah (7700mAh) under the manufacturer's specified test conditions. Its nominal energy is approximately 27.72Wh, allowing compatible low-power devices to operate for extended periods without frequent battery replacement. Actual capacity depends on operating temperature, discharge current, cutoff voltage, and application conditions.

The LS 26500 features a bobbin-type cell construction designed to support low self-discharge and long-term operation. Saft specifies a self-discharge rate of less than 1% per year at +20°C under the stated storage conditions. This characteristic makes the battery suitable for equipment that remains in service for long periods or operates intermittently.

With a maximum recommended continuous discharge current of 150mA, the standard LS 26500 is optimized for low-current applications rather than high-power loads. It can support short current pulses under specified conditions, but pulse performance depends on pulse duration, temperature, cell condition, and the electrical load. Applications requiring higher peak currents may need an appropriate pulse-support solution or a different battery configuration.

The battery operates across a wide temperature range of -60°C to +85°C, subject to the manufacturer's operating conditions. Its standard C-size dimensions are approximately 26mm in diameter and up to 50.4mm in height, depending on the terminal finish. Different versions are available with standard contacts, solder tabs, pins, or wire leads to suit different installation requirements.

The Saft LS 26500 is a primary, non-rechargeable battery. It must not be recharged or used outside its specified electrical and environmental limits.
