Overview
Description
The 250W 10A Boost Converter Step Up Module is a high-power DC-DC boost converter designed to increase a lower DC input voltage to a higher adjustable DC output voltage. It supports an input range of approximately 8.5–48V DC and provides an adjustable output range of up to 12–50V DC, making it suitable for applications where the available DC supply voltage is lower than the voltage required by the load.
This module uses a step-up (Boost) topology, meaning the output voltage is regulated above the input voltage. The output voltage can be adjusted continuously, allowing the same module to be configured for different power requirements. This makes it useful for building custom DC power supplies, automotive electronics, battery-powered systems, solar applications, and other power-electronics projects.
The module is commonly specified with a 250W maximum power rating and a current capability of up to 10A, although the actual usable output current depends strongly on the input voltage, desired output voltage, power level, and thermal conditions. At higher current levels, adequate heat dissipation is required to prevent excessive temperature rise.
The converter also incorporates practical protection features such as input reverse-polarity protection and over-current protection. Its switching frequency is approximately 150kHz, while reported conversion efficiency can reach around 96% under suitable operating conditions. Actual efficiency varies according to the input/output voltage difference and load current.
A useful feature of this module is its ability to operate from common DC sources such as 12V or 24V batteries and produce higher voltages for compatible loads. For example, a 12V source can be stepped up to a higher adjustable voltage within the module's specified output range. However, because this is a boost-only converter, the output voltage must be configured appropriately relative to the input voltage.
The compact board measures approximately 70 × 42 × 13mm, with mounting holes that allow it to be integrated into custom enclosures and DIY power systems.
The 250W 10A Boost Converter is therefore a practical solution for engineers, technicians, makers, and electronics developers who need adjustable high-voltage DC output from a lower-voltage DC source.
