4 Channel Infrared Tracking Sensor Module
This module provides a versatile infrared detection system solutions for automation machinery devices such as smart cars, robots. The sensor module is adaptable to ambient light. It has a pair of infrared transmitting and receiving tube. Transmitting tube sends out a certain frequency IR which will be reflected when detecting obstacles (reflecting surface) and received by receiving tube. After processing with comparator circuit, signal output interface outputs digital signal (a low voltage level signal).

Infrared Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module
IR Infrared Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module has a pair of infrared transmitting and receiving tubes.
When the transmitted light waves are reflected back, the reflected IR waves will be received by the receiver tube.
The onboard comparator circuitry does the processing and the green indicator LED comes to life.
The module features a 3 wire interface with Vcc, GND and an OUTPUT pin on its tail.
It works fine with 3v3 to 5V levels.
Upon hindrance/reflectance, the output pin gives out a digital signal (a low level signal).
The onboard preset helps to fine tune the range of operation, effective distance range is 2cm to 80cm.

IR Infrared Receiver Photo-diode Receiver 5mm
IR Photo diode is used to detect the light rays reflected from an IR LED. Photo diode is a reverse biased PN junction diode. When photo diode is exposed to light, electrical resistance across the diode decreases there by increasing the reverse current. If the photodiode is not exposed to light, resistance across the will be high .hence reverse current will be extremely small. This current is known as dark current. When light falls on photo diode, electrons acquire sufficient energy to break the covalent bond. Thus free electrons and holes are created. These free electrons will increase the reverse current. Basic circuit of an IR sensor using IR led and IR photo diode is shown below. IR transmitter LED will be emitting IR rays continuously since it’s connected in forward biased state. When an obstacle is present, IR rays from LED gets reflected back and IR receiver will capture these rays. Now IR receiver will conduct, an active low output will be produced.
