The UNI-T UT81C 2-in-1 Handheld Digital Oscilloscope Multimeter combines the functions of a digital multimeter and a handheld oscilloscope in a single portable instrument. It is designed for electronics engineers, technicians, students, and maintenance professionals who need to perform conventional electrical measurements while also examining signal waveforms without carrying a separate bench oscilloscope.

In multimeter mode, the UT81C measures AC and DC voltage, AC and DC current, resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode voltage, continuity, and duty cycle. Its measurement capability includes 1000V DC voltage, 750V AC voltage, and 10A AC/DC current, with a 4000-count display. Auto-ranging simplifies measurements during troubleshooting and general electrical testing.

The integrated oscilloscope provides a 16MHz bandwidth and 80MS/s sampling rate, allowing users to observe and analyze low- and medium-frequency electronic signals that may not be adequately represented by a conventional multimeter. The scope supports vertical sensitivity from 20mV/div to 500V/div and a time-base range from 50ns/div to 5s/div. This makes it useful for examining waveform shape, signal timing, voltage variations, and abnormal noise in electronic circuits.

The oscilloscope section provides Auto Run, Normal, and Single Shot trigger modes, allowing the user to capture continuously repeating signals as well as individual events. The instrument can store up to 10 screens and setups, which is useful when documenting measurements or comparing waveforms during troubleshooting.

The UT81C uses a 160 × 160 monochrome LCD with backlight, providing a compact interface for both numerical measurements and waveform display. Its handheld design measures approximately 200 × 100 × 48mm and weighs about 498g, making it practical for field service and bench-side troubleshooting. The instrument operates from four R6/AA 1.5V batteries and includes a USB interface for connection to a computer.

The UT81C is particularly useful when troubleshooting electronic equipment where both static electrical values and dynamic signals need to be checked. A technician can use the multimeter functions to verify voltage, resistance, continuity, or capacitance and then switch to oscilloscope mode to inspect the corresponding waveform.
