Overview
Description
The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5) is a compact embedded computing platform designed to bring the processing capabilities of the Raspberry Pi 5 generation into custom industrial, commercial, and embedded products. Unlike a conventional Raspberry Pi single-board computer, the CM5 is designed to be integrated into a custom carrier board, allowing developers and manufacturers to build specialized systems around the module while selecting the required I/O, storage, connectivity, and mechanical configuration.
At the core of the CM5 is the Broadcom BCM2712 quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, providing a substantial processing platform for demanding embedded applications. Depending on the selected variant, the module is available with 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB of LPDDR4-4267 SDRAM with ECC, while storage configurations include CM5 Lite with no onboard eMMC and versions with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB eMMC flash memory.
The CM5 provides extensive connectivity through its two 100-pin high-density connectors. Available interfaces include PCIe 2.0 x1, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, GPIO, UART, I2C, SPI, SDIO, I2S, PWM, MIPI CSI-2 camera interfaces, and MIPI DSI display interfaces. Wireless variants add dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, providing additional flexibility for connected embedded systems.
For multimedia applications, the Compute Module 5 supports a 4Kp60 HEVC decoder, OpenGL ES 3.1, and Vulkan 1.2 graphics. It also provides two HDMI 2.0 interfaces through the carrier-board design, supporting up to 4Kp60 on both outputs simultaneously.
With a compact 55 × 40mm module footprint and four M2.5 mounting holes, the Raspberry Pi CM5 is designed for integration into products such as industrial controllers, edge-computing systems, smart devices, robotics platforms, kiosks, networking equipment, machine-vision systems, and custom embedded computers.
