The FNIRSI WD-02 Wall Detector Scanner is a multifunction stud finder and wall scanner built for safely locating hidden objects before drilling, hanging, or renovating. As the upgraded successor to the WD-01, it detects wooden studs, metal objects such as rebar and pipes, and live AC wiring concealed behind walls, ceilings, and floors, giving DIY users and professionals a reliable way to avoid drilling into wiring or structural elements.

At the center of the WD-02 is an HPC detection module, which improves anti-interference performance and speeds up signal processing compared to earlier models. This translates into faster, more consistent readings when scanning through different wall materials. The device offers three dedicated detection modes: wood mode for locating studs and joists, metal mode for finding pipes, rebar, and other metallic objects, and AC mode for identifying live electrical wiring. Detection depth varies by material, reaching up to 38mm for wood, 50mm for AC wires, 100mm for metal pipes, and 120mm for rebar, covering the depth ranges most commonly encountered in residential and light commercial walls.

Results are displayed on a high-definition TFT screen, a notable upgrade over the standard LCD used in the original WD-01. The screen shows target depth, detection center, and material type in real time, while a three-color indicator light system, green for no target, yellow as the target approaches, and red at the detection center, gives users an immediate visual cue without needing to read the screen closely. An audio alarm reinforces this feedback, sounding as the scanner approaches a target and continuing when it reaches the exact center, which makes it easier to mark accurate drilling points without guesswork.

A new positioning hole built into the housing lets users mark the exact center of a detected object directly through the device, reducing the risk of misaligned drill points that can still catch a wire or pipe even after a general area has been identified. Three-level sensitivity adjustment allows the detector to be tuned for different wall thicknesses and materials, improving accuracy across plaster, drywall, and denser wall types.

The WD-02 also supports six languages, including English, Russian, Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese, making it usable across a wide range of markets. Power comes from a built-in rechargeable lithium battery charged via USB Type-C, removing the need for disposable batteries and keeping the tool ready for use across multiple projects.
