Maker Object is a tiny digital infrared (IR) proximity sensor designed for object/obstacle detection. The IR signal is modulated at 38kHz makes it immuned to the ambient light. The Maker Object has NPN output with internal pull up resistor. Its output is low when object is detected. Sensing range is adjustable via the small opening at the front of the sensor. This makes it easily accessible even though the sensor is mounted on the robot.

Due to its small form factor, Maker Object can be easily fitted in tiny robot such as a mini sumo robot. The 90 degrees pin header is also very handy allowing us to plug in the sensor directly to the PCB or breadboard for quick testing.

Despite the compact size, the sensing distance is not compromised. With maximum sensing distance of 60cm (Black Surface) – 140cm (White Surface), Maker Object is well fitted in various kind of application such as sumo robot, obstacle avoidance robot, safety sensor for auto gate, parking lot occupancy sensor, entrance sensor…etc.
